what can we expect?

Our aim is simple - to serve good food and drink at sensible prices in a relaxed, friendly and clean environment.

tell us more…

We know that not everyone wants the same thing from a pub. You might want a pint of local real ale at the bar… A bottle of wine and a grazing board on the sofas… A meal in the dining room… A really good coffee and a read of the paper… Take your pick.

If real ale is your thing, look no further. We offer Adnams Bitter and Woodforde’s Wherry as our session bitters accompanied by Adnams Broadside (for those of you who like to savour their pint!). We also offer a weekly guest ale from midday every Friday as voted for by our real ale drinkers.

We’re passionate about wine and have created a list which offers a selection of old favourites combined with some more unusual and quirky wines. The common theme is that we believe they are all well made wines offering good value for money. Every single one of our wines are available by the glass (except some champagnes).

On the food side, the emphasis is on good quality, seasonal produce and, wherever possible, we source it locally. We’ve taken this a step further with smoked salmon as we smoke our own on the premises. We love Sunday lunch and offer a great roast – bring the family or meet up with friends and catch up on your week.

We’re open from noon until late. So if you’re in need of a fairtrade organic coffee in the afternoon, you know where to come.

Free wi-fi is available throughout the pub.

what about the kids?

Children are welcome before 6pm in the bar and 8pm in the restaurant but evenings are just for the grown ups. We offer a separate children’s menu and are happy to provide smaller portions from our main menu (where possible).

Baby changing facilities, highchairs (and crayons!) are available.

what are people saying?

We were delighted to receive the Best Restaurant in Bury St Edmunds Award as voted for by the Best of Bury St Edmunds members in September 2009.

The Independent on Sunday did a local feature in October 2008 and named us as one of three places to eat in Bury St Edmunds.
